Savory Sesame Ring Cookies

Golden savory sesame ring cookies

Crisp, savory sesame ring cookies made with a tender vinegar-enriched dough.

Ingredients

  • 300 g flour
  • 125 g butter
  • 100 g oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple or grape vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 10 g baking powder
  • 120 g sesame seeds

Jasmine’s tips

  • Bring the ingredients to room temperature.
  • Reserve one egg white for coating the cookies.
  • Add the flour gradually so you can control the dough’s consistency.
  • The dough should remain soft and pliable, similar to the softness of an earlobe.

Method

  1. Stir together all of the ingredients except the flour, reserving one egg white for coating.
  2. Add the flour gradually and knead until a soft dough forms.
  3. Take walnut-sized pieces of dough and shape them into rings.
  4. Coat the rings with the reserved egg white, then cover them with sesame seeds.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C or 360°F, as recorded in Jasmine’s original recipe. Arrange the cookies on a baking tray and bake for 25–30 minutes, until lightly golden. Baking time may vary by oven.
